Triangulum (Catherine Lamb, Laura Steenberge, and Julia Holter)
Triangulum is a collaboration between Catherine Lamb, Laura Steenberge, and Julia Holter, who have been collaborating on vocal experiments together since 2010, exploring timbre, tuning and language. Their most recent performance in early 2017 in Glasgow, as part of the Tectonics Festival, was the first time they performed a collaborative composition, made up of their three voices, viola, keyboard, and viola da gamba, employing shapes (filters), formants (pre-language), aggregates (amplification), density and translation, to be performed again at Zebulon in December.
Jessika Kenney is a vocalist, composer, sound artist, researcher, and teacher, working for the last 25 years in realms of the subtle melody, with attention to gutteral, textual, and contextual layerings. She is a student of Persian radifs for the last 13 years and Javanese singing for 20, and currently teaches voice lessons at CalArts.
